When I run this code with sage it works fine and gives the correct result:

I can't get the first code to run properly. There is a ZeroDivisionError: Inverse does not exist. error which seems to arise in the t = y / 2 line... Oh, I see, you are running this in pure Python. I think you should update your question to point this out (I was wondering about the from sage.all import * line). –  kcrisman Oct 25 '13 at 14:51
    
First one: fine. Second one: I don't get any error, just some very unintelligible characters coming from your binascii stuff. That said, the error makes it sound like you just didn't add enough things to a and b. –  kcrisman Oct 25 '13 at 14:54
