I would like to have more ticks on the x-axis of this plot (for example a tick for 20hz, 40hz, 80hz, 160hz, 320hz, 640hz, etc.):

PS : Here is the solution, thanks to the given answer :

t=[1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024]` 
t1= [x*20 for x in t]
xticks(t1,t1)

Please try xticks(), I think this is what you need.
