I'm coming from this question Find most distant points in contour curve where the answer given allows me to produce a contour plot like the one shown below, using the code that is farther down.

Here python is deciding the values of the levels where to set the contour curves. I know I can define those levels manually using something like:

levels = np.arange(0.2, 1., 0.2)
CS = plt.contour(x1,y1,kde,levels)

but I'd like to know how I can obtain and store those values selected by python so as to end up with a list that, in the case of the image shown above, would look like:

levels = [0.7, 0.6, 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2, 0.1]

The levels live on the ContourSet object:

CS = pl.contour(x1,y1,kde)
levels = CS.levels
