I'm creating a bar graph for some data we have. Now I'm having a problem changing the color of the y axis lines and the y axis labels.

I want the lables to be black (and crisp), but the lines to be grey dotted and opaque. But I just can't manage. I have tried around for quite a while but I now have to ask here since it has to be finished soon and I do not have the time anymore...

This is my code:

This is what I still have in my html:

So if I have it like this, the output looks like this: Bar graph with grey dotted lines but also grey text

And if I remove

.style("stroke", "#eee")
.style("shape-rendering", "crispEdges")

from canvas.append("g") I get the labels the way I want them to be but the axis disapears.

On top of it all when I want to print it, it anyway decides to make it very own thing:

Of course removing the two styles like mentioned bevore results in a printout same to the onscreen version. No Lines but crisp labels.

I am still learning D3js but I have to get this finished soon. Can you please help me?

You can do the entire thing in CSS and remove those .style calls from your code:

.tick line {
  stroke: #eee;
  stroke-width: 1;
  shape-rendering: crispEdges;
  stroke-dasharray: 5,5;
}

No, it doesn't work. If I remove those styles and only put it into the css, the lines disapear all together. –  k3njiy Nov 13 '13 at 7:27
