I am trying to implement a UDP client server. The client is sending 1032 bytes using the rdt_send function but the server receives this packet only after the client is executed twice.

Here is the code for :

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Works for me, every time, but you should certainly close the DatagramSocket in the client before it exits. –  EJP Nov 25 '13 at 3:26

It's due to the buffer. flush() the socket after sending a packet.

You can't. You don't need to. It's not due to the buffer. There is no buffer that needs flushing, and you can't flush a DatagramSocket. The answer is incorrect. He is thinking of a Socket output stream, but this also doesn't need flushing unless you're wrapped a buffered stream or writer around it. -1 –  EJP Nov 25 '13 at 0:15
