Is it possible to change the location of the Arrow / Stem in a Balloon Tooltip? Reason to change is because of a Button, located in the top of the screen, should have a tooltip below it.

Above is the situation right now, I only need the arrow to be on the top-left side of the balloon.

You do not need to do anything special as the placement is automatic according to MSDN. Do have you an issue with ballon tooltip ?

The solution lies in the link I put in my answer; MSDN explains how you can override the default positioning by modifying the TOOLINFO structure. Of course, this will need some P/Invoke... –  Laurent Etiemble Jan 8 '10 at 15:48

I used InteropServices to call several User32.dll methods (CreateWindowEx, DestroyWindow, SetWindowPos and SendMessage) to use native Win32 tooltips instead of the WinForms-provided wrapper.

If caller forgets to call Dispose()/Destroy(), window handler will not be released. Is there any reason why finalizer is not implemented? –  Bojan Komazec Jul 1 '13 at 15:24
    
Yes. MSDN says "A thread cannot use DestroyWindow to destroy a window created by a different thread". And finalizers are called from the GC thread. –  Soonts Jul 1 '13 at 17:57
    
Fair enough. Although I prefer not relying on whether user's gonna dispose object or not, seems that it's not that straightforward implementing GC-based dispose failover. I found this guy had the same problem: bytes.com/topic/c-sharp/answers/… –  Bojan Komazec Jul 2 '13 at 8:20
