I'm using Excel 2010 and trying to make a macro button that copies 2 colums from one sheet and pastes them into another sheet before a specific colum. The code looks like this:

Sub CreateShift()
'
' CreateShift Macro
'

'
    Sheets("Sheet2").Select
    Columns("D:E").Select
    Selection.Copy
    Sheets("Sheet1").Select
    Columns("D:D").Select
    Selection.Insert Shift:=xlToRight
End Sub

For some reason when I click the button the first time it copies the 2 colums twice. Then if I click the button afterwards it will only create the 2 colums once, which is what I want it to do everytime. I can't make sense of it. Thanks in advance.

Code works for me in Excel 2007. You sure you're not double clicking by accident? –  t.thielemans Dec 2 '13 at 9:02
    
works fine for me in excel 2010. Please check that your button actually refers directly to this Sub. I agree with @t.thielemans that it sounds like you are possibly double clicking. –  K_B Dec 2 '13 at 9:29
    
add msgbox("it's done") at the end and check if it's copying once or twice –  lowak Dec 2 '13 at 10:12
    
I added the code for the message box. The same thing happened. It copied the colum twice then showed the message, but only for the very first time i click the button. All other times it copied the once and showed the message, Strange :/ –  user3056588 Dec 2 '13 at 10:59
    
Its odd. If i create a brand new excel document and make a simple test using the same code it works fine. Side by side the code is the same. Don't know if its how I have my colums formatted, or the sizing or merging issue or where i have the colums to the right frozen? –  user3056588 Dec 2 '13 at 14:58
