I am trying to load an image of a map as the background and then add a network diagram over the top. I cannot get the map to be behind the network elements. I have tried moveToBottom etc but I cannot get it right. Any help appreciated. I have some php at the top as the data will come from a database once the concept is proved.

Perhaps just add objects in your desired order and then set the map image later:

  var map = new Kinetic.Image({x: 0, y: 0, width: 200, height: 200, draggable: true });

  var AHS1 = new Kinetic.Rect ...

  ...

  staticLayer.add(map);
  staticLayer.add(AHS1);         // add objects defined above
  staticLayer.add(AHSport1);        
  staticLayer.add(AHSlink1);

  ...

  var imageObj = new Image();
  imageObj.onload = function() { 
      map.setImage(imageObj);
      staticLayer.draw();  
  };
  imageObj.src = 'england-large.png';
