I have a problem with a proxy server in c. usage: laddr lport rhost rport

Input : ./proxy localhost 8333 localhost 8080

And I get an error: bind localhost 8333 can't assign requested address.

How can I correct the code so that it works?

This happens when the address you are trying to bind is not from the local machine, whats the value of localaddr? –  ichramm Jan 10 '14 at 0:47

from man inet(3):

The inet_addr() function converts the Internet host address cp from IPv4 numbers-and-dots notation into binary data in network byte order. If the input is invalid, INADDR_NONE (usually -1) is returned.

problem is in function create_server_sock() where you do client_addr.sin_addr.s_addr = inet_addr("localhost");. obviously "localhost" is not in numbers-and-dots notation. you should use gethostbyname like you do with remoteaddr or preferably getaddrinfo

Ok, I trying input like this ./proxy 127.0.0.1 8333 localhost 8080. Did not help. –  user2984674 Jan 10 '14 at 8:07
    
It's actually working for me. I did ./proxy 127.0.0.1 3000 localhost 3001, in another terminal nc -lp 3001, in another terminal telnet 127.0.0.1 3000 then what I type in telnet I see in nc. –  bahaa Jan 10 '14 at 11:58
    
Ok. It's working on my local machine, before I'm testing on remote machine but I dont know why there not working, but at my local machina I have error with type telnet 127.0.0.1 3000 I get an error connection refused. Why? –  user2984674 Jan 11 '14 at 0:32
