I have a UICollectionView with a CoreData data source. Users can change the display mode between grid- and list view. I want to implement this both using UICollectionViewFlowLayout, because this way I can use a nice transitioning animation.

My problem is, that more cells fit in the list view than the grid view, and the cells which get displayed only after the transition from grid view to list view, 1) don't get animated 2) have not initialized properly.

The code looks like the following:

To sum: I have two methods, one for instantly rearranging objects in the cell (setting frame and hiding what's unneccessary), and one for animating the same change. The first one is called in cellForItemAtIndexPath and the second one when the user clicks the view type button.

The results looks like this:

It is clear, that configureViewAsList is not called for the cells below "Háztartás", because they were not visible in grid layout.

How can I make UICollectionView to call cellForItemAtIndexPath when the button is pressed?

UPDATE: To clarify, there is three more cells after "Háztartás".
