I've seen this question a couple of times before but none of the answers seem to fit my case. As with the others, the exception is withing the Android code and not mine.

The weird thing is it only happens with Android 4.1 and 4.2. My Galaxy 3 recently updated to 4.3 and the problem disappeared. OTOH, on a Nexus with 4.4 it still happens!

We don't have any headers in the view. The other point is that it only happens when there are not enough rows to fill the screen.

We have a base class that extends ArrayAdapter and then each activity uses its own adapter to extend that one.

A note of explaination: The data is fetched from a server via the "ServletCoonector". When the data returns the method "connectionFinished" of the listener is invoked with the data passed as a parameter.

This doesn't mean that the error isn't (directly or not so directly) caused by your code. As you can see, there are tons of apps for any Android version that don't produce similar error messages. – Sarge Borsch Jan 19 '14 at 12:22

Difficult to guess without the code. It might be that something is changing the adapter data without notifying the datasetchanged

Code it VERY long. The thing that has me stumped is that it works perfectly every time EXCEPT whent here aren't enough rows to fill the screen and only on certain versions of Android. – theblitz Jan 19 '14 at 12:12

After a coupel more days of searching it seems to be connected to the fact that the ListView is being placed inside a Tab. The layout xml for the listview had the ListView as its base. I changed it so that it has a LinearLayout as its base as the ListView is inside it. Now it works perfectly. Why? I have no idea but it does. – theblitz Jan 21 '14 at 14:46
