Okay, I have scoured the forums and the web in general and am yet to find anything yet to fit my needs. I have honestly never liked games but my web design students do so I told them I would learn how to make them and then pass the knowledge along.

Through reading and tutorials I put together a simple HTML5 canvas maze game. I was able to add a timer, detect key presses, collisions, etc. The next step is I want my kids to realize that obviously most of them play games on touch devices and convert the game for that purpose.

So I was able to combine some tutorials and samples together and try some options. I tried one option with simulated key events but that is a lot of tapping. So I wanted to use touch joysticks. Everything is on the canvas, timer works, my "player" moves. I just can't figure out the collision detections since this now involves speed and other directional elements I did not have with simple key presses. I tried one option with get Image Data but found that required your page being hosted which is not really an option for my class.

So help and guidance would be appreciated. Even if it is direction to an article I missed or to tell me that this joystick plan just is not going to work. My code is below. Please let me know if you need other info from me.

EDIT I was calling a draw function twice which was giving me some issues and have now updated my code. Just wanted everyone to know I am still working on this. But still need help with the collision detection.
