I've been struggling for a solution to this for weeks.

I used this as a guide - https://github.com/aitorciki/jquery-playlist But i just cant make it work. The script does not come with a working example. I'm no noob, but this is a little too complex for me.

Firebug confirms all scripts are loading. The web player flashes up for a split second as the Ajax call runs - then white screen.

My page includes:

The M3U you are trying to load just contains streams, I think for this plugin to work it must be a play list of media files. –  Jason Sperske Feb 8 '14 at 0:19

the object reads its source from player.currentSrc. Therefor use

<audio controls src="http://listen.radionomy.com/hits4u.m3u" />

also the proxy is not initialized correctly. It should read

$('audio').playlistParser({
 proxy: 'proxy.php'
});
