I am trying to learn how to use semaphores and I have the following code taken from here with some additions from here

When I try to use the shmat I am getting the "Identifier removed" error. What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it. Please help.

This call

if (-1 == semctl(semid, 0, IPC_RMID)) /* clean up */

removes the semaphore identifier, so the error given by the following call to shmat() is to be expected.


Also the code seems to be missing to

#include <sys/shm.h>

And finally this call

if ((shm = shmat(semid, NULL, 0)) < 0) {

should be

if ((shm = shmat(semid, NULL, 0)) == (char*) -1) {

I am still getting the error. The removal of the semaphore also doesn't happen if there isn't any error. – Spyros Non Serviam Feb 28 '14 at 21:21
