I'm having a linker issue. I've got a script that builds a EXE from the command line. When I invoke the linker though CC or LD directly, I end up with undefined references. Below is from the linker directly:

Why is the linker failing to link this program? (Sorry about the open ended question. I'm at whit's end trying to figure out what's broken here).

Could you post the result of readelf -s /usr/local/ssl/lib/libssl.so | grep SSL_get_shutdown? Maybe it is a symbol version problem. – Lee Duhem Mar 4 '14 at 3:19

It looks like your libevent_openssl.so linked with a libssl.so which has symbol version, but the current libssl.so you are trying to link does not have symbol version information. I do not know whether it is matter or not, but rebuilding libevent_openssl.so with your current libssl.so may solve your problem. – Lee Duhem Mar 4 '14 at 6:00
