i have a problem with a Many2Many relation using Spring JPA/Hibernate with an @Embeddedid.

The relation is as follows:

Project 1 <--- n ProjectUser n ---> 1 User

I am using a Standard Spring JPA Repository

    projectRepository.save(project);

I got the following excpetion while persisting the object:

java.lang.NullPointerException at    org.hibernate.type.descriptor.java.AbstractTypeDescriptor.extractHashCode(AbstractTypeDescriptor.java:88)

I think the main problem is, that JPA/Hibernate does not persist (SAVE_UPDATE) User and Project before it attempt to save the keys in the join table. Do i really need, to save User/Project before i can set the mapping?
