Hello I am new to r and have a problem with ggplot2 and a sime boxplot. Basically, I have dataframe with three columns: Station, Entries and Dummy. Station identifies a train station in germany. Entries are the number of passengers per day and dummy is simply set to 1.

I tried the following code to create a boxplot:

bplot <- ggplot(data,aes(Dummy,Entries))
bplot + geom_boxplot() + labs(x="Dummy", y = "Entries per Hour")

Unfortunately, this returns only a totally weird "boxplot" with a diagonal line from the left bottom to the right corner and lots of unreadable junk und the far left. Can anybody tell me whats goign wrong? The Entries column is of type integer and has a range from 0 to 100.000

Your ENTRIESn_hourly are factor not numeric (you see it by using function str() on your data frame and then inspecting each variable). Convert them to numeric to make boxplot.

str(df)
'data.frame':   366 obs. of  3 variables:
