I've been trying to hack together a FileVault script to detect if an OS X machine has FileVault 2 active on the internal drive and then print that to an XML file which LANDesk would then read and print to the LANDesk console. The problem is that diskutil doesn't really differentiate between internal and external CoreStorage drives. You can see this if your run diskutil cs list. This command is great for detecting whether or not CoreStorage is active, but doesn't differentiate between internal and external drives.

My initial thought was to use only the value coming from disk0, but this doesn't seem to be reliable if the machine is a Mac Pro as occasionally the OS drive is not the first drive to mount during boot. Does anyone have an idea as to which commands could detect internal/external disks? I could then build a query off of that. Shell script below:
