I am trying to figure out the Josephus problem using a queue in java. The input has to be a list of names (string) and an integer k or how many times the potato has been passed through the queue. I need to test 4 different inputs. This is what I have so far, I got help from some random tutorials but not sure what to edit about this to make it work.

This isnt working.. could anyone offer advice?

I am not sure about your while loop. This is what I came up with - this.potentialVictims is a Queue

public String findSurvivor(int k) { 

  int pos=1;
  while (this.potentialVictims.size() > 1) {
    String person=this.potentialVictims.poll();
    if (pos++ %k != 0) {
            this.potentialVictims.offer(person);
    }
    else {
       System.out.printf("%s is out\n",person);
    }
  }
  if (this.potentialVictims.size()==1) {
    return this.potentialVictims.poll();
  }
  else {
    return null;
  }
}
