I have a scenario, where one of my Database Table is dynamic, means that columns can be added or removed from, whenever the user wants, but at the same time, I need a report for whatever the table structure be at any instant.
In SQL Server we use
Select * from TableName
and it returned all the rows that were in the table at that time, but when it comes to SSRS Reports, there is a design file, that requires all the columns to be added at the design time. And shows only those rows that are present in the design RDL file.
But, I think this limits the same in my above mentioned scenario. I looked for it all over the internet but found no solutions. Though found this http://dobrzanski.net/2009/02/06/how-to-dynamically-add-new-columns-to-report-created-with-reporting-services/, but my situation is such that it is not possible for me to update the XML file as such and moreover the columns may differ from user to user, so, it seems to be a bad suggestion to create a new Report for each user.
How do I add a column to the report generated that was added after the report was designed? Please note that my report will be generated in server mode.
