I am using daemon and inotify to monitor a file. I don't know what happened to my code. If I use the inotify_add_watch to watch a directory, it works. But it doesn't work for one single file. Please help me if you have any idea. I think the problem is in the read() part.It seems system can't read file into buffer. But I am not quite sure. TIA.

The problem in your code is this:

if ( event->len )

From the inotify documentation:

The name field is present only when an event is returned for a file inside a watched directory; it identifies the file pathname relative to the watched directory.

The value of event->len is zero for events involving a watch added for a single file. So the remainder of your code never executes.
