I am attempting to test the main Spring Security login process by running a test container in Spring Boot, using, I think the things that they suggest.

Here is the maven pom:

As you can see, I tried specifying the container in the config, but this doesn't seem to work. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

You're actually not setting up the container in a config class, you're doing it in the test class. Move that @Bean to a @Configuration and you might have more luck.

That was it. I removed the @IntegrationTest annotation from TestApplicationContext and away it went. Thank you so much. –  Michael Coxon Jun 7 at 10:11
    
Hi Michael, can you elaborate whether just removing "@IntegrationTest" from TestApplicationContext worked (because it did not work for me when I face same problem - I want an embedded container only for tests) and if you mean @Dave's suggestion also had to be used, then replacing "@Bean" with "@Configuration" in your example gives me compile errors stating "@Configuration" is not allowed there. Any pointers that you can give will be of much help. Thanks, Paddy –  Paddy Dec 3 at 12:59
    
Simply replacing one annotation with another is not going to help. A @Bean is a method. Add a class and annotate it @Configuration and put the container factory in there as a @Bean, then add teh class to your application context. Don't copy the code from the OP (it's a mess). –  Dave Syer Dec 3 at 14:49
