I've been trying to translate dnsProperty (under .Net and Java) from DNSZone AD object, to find out ZoneType but unsuccessful. Have got no problems with dnsRecord on DNSNode which supposed to follow the same logic as dnsProperty attribute.
MSDNS_SPEC documents the complete structure and explains each propertyId and further byte mappings, however have compared several zones and couldn't find the right pattern following the MS spec. E.g. Microsoft specifies that the 5th byte of DNSProperty (single-value) coresponds to propertyId. We have a Forward Lookup Zone where DNSProperty with propertyId matching DSPROPERTY_ZONE_TYPE 0x00000001 flag is:
04 00 00 00 1F 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 A8 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
where the first byte: 04 tells that data lenght is 4.
where the 5th byte: 1F matches the DSPROPERTY_ZONE_TYPE propertyId flag

Whichever combination we take it doesn't match ZoneType value expected (DNS_ZONE_TYPE_PRIMARY 0x01), neither by value nor by a bit flag. Assuming DNSRecord data part starts after the 5th byte.

Have tried big/little endian, other DNSRecord entries that actually don't match the DSPROPERTY_ZONE_TYPE flag trying to find relevant patterns (reverse engineer it), however every possible matching pattern doesn't work when take more zones (Forwarders/Reverse etc).
