I'm trying to make a timer, to add to a variable 1 every 2 seconds. So I'm using the Java timer, but the problem is, it only works the first time, meaning it only adds 1 to the variable.

Here is the Code:

Maybe because it doesn't enter the if condition in the TimerTask? –  Hugo Sousa Jul 6 '14 at 12:14
    
thats not it because i also tried doing (if count < 100), and the count varible always stays on 1. –  Pachu Jul 6 '14 at 12:20
    
Have you tried to place a breakpoint in that if and check if it reaches there every 2 seconds? –  Hugo Sousa Jul 6 '14 at 12:21
    
Umm, i dont really know because my friend told me how to do it, but he said it summons the run methond after the timer reach 2 sconds –  Pachu Jul 6 '14 at 12:27
    
It supposedly does, I guess. You should learn how to use a debugger. It could really help you in this situation to check if it really is entering the run method every 2 seconds. What IDE are you using? Surely, there are some nice tutorials out there teaching you how to debug your program. –  Hugo Sousa Jul 6 '14 at 12:29

Try using this code

And you don't need to create (Extend) PachuTask class

Please modify it with your need

Try to achieve this using handlers,it will call every 2 second itself

Runnable runnable1 ,runnable2 = null ;
final Handler handler1 = new Handler();
        final Handler handler2 = new Handler();

        runnable2 = new Runnable() {

            @Override
            public void run() {
                // TODO Auto-generated method stub
                handler1.postAtTime(runnable1, 0);
            }
        };
        runnable1 = new Runnable() {

            @Override
            public void run() {
                // TODO Auto-generated method stub
                System.err.println("Called in two second");
                handler2.postDelayed(runnable2, 2000);
            }
        };


        handler1.postDelayed(runnable1, 0);
