In this program after 10 min in main thread difference between start time and current time is increased to more than 1 sec up to 8 sec. why this is happening process builder affecting main thread execution.

Each process takes time to start and shutdown. Nothing is instantaneous in the real world ;) – Peter Lawrey Jul 7 '14 at 19:26

Because of this process.waitFor();.

Review the javadoc here.


After having a second look at the code, it seems you're not closing your streams, therefore consuming a lot of resources pretty fast (lots of threads doing IO).

process.waitFor() is called on different thread (thread of fixed executor pool) not on main thread. – amitbaxi777 Jul 7 '14 at 19:30
are you closing your input streams? sounds to me there are too many threads that are consuming resources pretty fast. – ra2085 Jul 7 '14 at 19:33
