I'm trying to create high level interface to zmq in python Here is what it looks like

So basically I'm trying to run ioloop in separate thread so it won't block the application that's using zmq for communication.

I have a set of test which all passed by my code. But in one out of three runs I have this exception. I don't even know where to start...

IndexError: list index out of range

I think that the problem is that loop is not completely closed by the moment socket and stream are closed.

As per the docs there are 2 approaches to start a IOLoop:

  1. Explicitly call make_current() before starting the loop and after creating the self.loop to set the correct instance
  2. Or, use IOLoop.instance() rather than using IOLoop.current() to get a valid instance. This will make sure you have an instance of IOLoop.

Note: I haven't tried it but suspect this as the problem. Hopefully this helps !

No, I actually used instance() before. It doesn't work. And this isn't working either. self.loop = IOLoop.current() self.loop.make_current() –  user1685095 Aug 7 at 20:39
