I have a servlet deployed in tomcat 7. In production it should communicate with another servers via ssl with client authentification. It should send SOAP messages, i use javax.xml.soap lib for this purposes. So it properly configured with keystore and truststore in server.xml:

Java system properties: keystore/truststore, keystorePassword/truststorePassword also properly setted.

If I try to send SOAP message to remote server, which also properly configured, particulary it has my public certificate, it autintificate me, handshake occurs, everything ok. But for testing purposes I use Soap-UI 4.6.2, it's ability to provide SSL mock service. But, there is not only one instance of Soap-UI, several instances configured as SSL mock services. And one more note, that I don't have their public certificates in truststore of my application. This SSL mocks configured without client autentification.

Form this post telling java to accept self-signed ssl certificate, i figured out that there is a hook which anable java application to trust any server with which this application try to establish SSL communication:

This sounds very useful for my test case: some ssl servers, without client autentification, waiting for my message. I havan't got their public certificates, but trustStore is setted in my application with another public certificates. So, at the same time there are properly configured trustStore and "trust manager hook". But when i try to send SOAP message via ssl exception is raised:

class javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Trying to write END_DOCUMENT when document has no root (ie. trying to output empty document). url:

So, as you figured out, I should support production mode (specified trustStore) and test mode ("trust manager hook") simultenously. Maybe this modes incompatible?

But also, i try to run my application with "trust manager hook" and without specifying trustore neither in server.xml, nor in Java system properties - handshake doesn't occur.So, can you help me what can be wrong that "trust manager hook" doesn't work?
