Is there any built in method in the .NET library that will return all of the MX records for a given domain? I see how you get CNAMES, but not MX records.

See this blog post - the guy wrote an MX client using raw UDP ports. Single file class, so you should be able to use it as is.

There is nothing built into .NET, but you can use a free library like http://www.simpledns.com/dns-client-lib.aspx

.NET does not have anything that I know of. Here is a Code Project article that you can take a look at that I believe could be helpful.

I spent all day figuring out how to send/receive dns requests and came up with this. Its a complete generic handler. You just have to set the dns server and pass in 'd' eg. my.website.com?d=itmanx.com

Some web hosting providers will not allow System.Net.SocketPermission. If you get a "Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.SocketPermission... failed", speak very nicely to your hosting provider :) – Christian Sep 25 '11 at 16:26

fails here: string text1 = Marshal.PtrToStringAuto(recMx.pNameExchange);

with an access violation exception.

It'll be because the code hasn't been updated to work on a 64bit OS. I get the same problem with the DnsRecordListFree() line. – Helephant Jul 11 '11 at 15:14
