A particular sharepoint web application(site collection) is continuously prompting for username and password indefinite times and not letting the users to view the application properly.

But when we add the users to Farm Administrators, the web application(site collection) is working fine. But ideally, we can’t add all users to Farm Administrators.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

How is the security set? Windows Authentication? Is it an Intranet site? Maybe you can give more details on the current setup. –  Dante Apr 29 '10 at 12:21
Ya.. i have set security as Windows Authentication. It is an Intranet Site. Given Allow Anonymous access. Selected an configurable account and gave administrative username and password. –  Priya Apr 29 '10 at 12:55

I've seen this when the SharePoint site was not in the web browser's Intranet zone. For an IE browser, you can add the url to the Intranet zone or change the browser's authentication setting to use "Automatic logon with current username and password".

First, check that you're site is in Intranet Zone.
