I see it's easy to open pipe between two process using fork, but how we can passing open pipe to threads. Assume we need to pass out of PROGRAM A to PROGRAM B "may by more than one thread", PROGRAM B send his output to PROGRAM C

EDIT: I come again after modifying the code to become more easy for reading.

You wouldn't normally use pipes between threads, since they share a common address space. The effort of serialising data through a byte pump usually isn't worth it. –  Marcelo Cantos May 2 '10 at 10:17

@Marcelo: It really depends on what exact message you're sending. One approach might be to build the message as a structure in memory and send the address of it (plus the responsibility to tidy it up) over the pipe as a simple 4/8 byte message. (There are other cases where pipes between threads are vital, such as when you've got some threads using select()…) –  Donal Fellows May 2 '10 at 10:33
    
+1 Donal. Yes, your points are all valid, hence my qualified language. Other than the select issue, however, I would generally favor POSIX queues, due to their packet-based (as opposed to byte-oriented) semantics. –  Marcelo Cantos May 2 '10 at 10:44

For intra-process messaging, POSIX queues will probably suit your needs better than pipes. Check out man mq_overview (or online).
