I downloaded Rhino Security today and started going through some of the tests. Several that run perfectly in isolation start getting errors after one that purposely raises an exception runs though. Here is that test:

 failed: NHibernate.AssertionFailure : null id in Rhino.Security.Tests.User entry (don't flush the Session after an exception occurs)

Does anyone see how I can reset the state of the in memory SQLite db after the first test? 

I changed the code to use nunit instead of xunit so maybe that is part of the problem here as well.

I extracted the start of the new session and creation of the SQLite db into a Setup method and put _session.Dispose into a Teardown method so all tests run. I'll leave this open for a bit in case someone can see how Ayende & XUnit made this work. Cheers –  Berryl May 18 '10 at 19:46

How are you instantiating the session?

Whenever there's an exception, the session must be discarded. That also means you should almost never share the session between test methods.

Ayende is disposing the session after each test, but using XUnit and an IDisposable base fixture to do it, as opposed to the NUnit Teardown method I am personally more familiar with. This makes sense for SQLite since regenerating the db is that fast. The alternative I have seen between tests when using a 'real' db is to begin & rollback a transaction each and every test. –  Berryl May 27 '10 at 15:28
