I'm trying to write a client. I am able to open a socket to the server and the server acknowledges the connection, but for some reason, the write stream is never ready to accept data, i.e. it seems to always be blocked. What am I doing wrong? I'm new to socket programming, so it might be something in the wrong place, but here's what I have (I got most of it from sample code):

For the stream callbacks, the only type I ever get back is type 1 (i.e. opened).

Am I missing something obvious?

Where is you readStreamEventHandler and writeStreamEventHandler code? Why are you hardcoding the enum values in your callbacks rather than using the enum names? –  Jeremy W. Sherman Oct 21 '10 at 2:32
    
I didn't post the handlers, because all they do is print the event type (I get two 1's). As for hard-coding, that's because this is test code and I was switching between enum values just to test what would happen if I set up the streams on a ConnectCallBack vs. a WriteCallBack. In any final code, that'll be all cleaned up. I guess I should have cleaned it up though before posting. –  Ben Oct 21 '10 at 3:41
