So this is becoming a pain in the butt. What is the "general procedure" for actually viewing/editing data from an external data source such as a SQL database.
So far, I've created an ETC and have permissions for it (i think eheh) but now what? Am I supposed to create a profile page for that now? in order to see the content in sharepoint?
When I try to see it in SharePoint I get the following error message, "Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator"
I started to get this message once I changed my Connection Properties in SPD from Authentication Mode of "user's identity" to "impersonate windows identity". Before I used to get, "NT AUTHORITY/ANONYMOUS LOGON" when I had user's identity.
Sooo, my question is, in order for me to view/edit an external database in SharePoint, what are the general guidelines?
For example, first I need to set permissions this way, then I need to create an ECT that way, then I need to do this, then that...
Can someone please help? this is getting confusing. Thanks!!!
