I need to pull out the IP address into a VBA macro. This code works but the command dialogue is briefly visible which is not a good look. Can I use a modification to do it "silently" ?

Update, found a variant using Wscript.Shell to write to a temp file, this works "silently" not as nice as Remou's method below

I think this may be easier, it uses WMI.

That certainly looks concise :-) Can you tell me how I would use that in a sub to say msgbox display the IP pls (sorry very VBA ignorant) –  Saul Feb 11 '11 at 22:41

That is fantastic Remou, many thanks. It works beautifully with Word 2003, will it work with all later versions? I guess what I'm asking is WMI (whatever that is) present on all Windows and Word installations? –  Saul Feb 12 '11 at 9:07
    
There is no guarantee, that this code will work/compile/run with future versions of Word/Windows. To correctly answer your quesion, one would have to use a crystal ball ;) –  froeschli Feb 12 '11 at 9:22

ARG thats huge in comparison. How would I call that as a macro? I dont need machine names, and each machine will only have one network address, I need to get to the IP as a string really. –  Saul Feb 11 '11 at 21:49
