I'm trying to parse a simple XML document with SAX, and I get the following error:

org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Content is not allowed in trailing section.

I've checked the XML and it seems fine, there is nothing (not even a white space) after the closing tag. This is how I'm starting the parsing (although I don't think there should be a probleme about that...):

SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
SAXParser sp = spf.newSAXParser();
XMLReader xr = sp.getXMLReader();
xr.setContentHandler(new SLATemplateParsingHandler(this, xr));

InputSource is = new InputSource();
is.setCharacterStream(new StringReader(XML.trim()));
xr.parse(is);

Any ideas what could be wrong?

EDIT: I've used the w3schools XML validator to check my XML and it says it has no errors.

Did you look at the exception's message? You can get maybe get information on the reason of the problem. There are some methods to get information on the line that caused the problem (see download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/api/org/xml/sax/…). –  reef Feb 23 '11 at 14:46
