I want to take a byte array decoded from base64 and show it on an ImageView in Android.

I fetch the byte array from the database:

 byte[] blob = c.getBlob(1); 
     //I do this to see if the cursor is empty

     if(blob != null) { 

         byte[] decodedString = Base64.decode(blob, Base64.DEFAULT);
         Bitmap decodedByte = BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(decodedString, 0, decodedString.length);
         mImage.setImageBitmap(decodedByte); 

        } 
     else { 
          mImage.setImageResource(R.drawable.pear); 
        }  

If I do it this way and convert the blob to a string and print it, it looks as it does in the database. If I try to decode erroneous code I get an "bad base64"-exception, so it seems the base64 is alright. So then the problem should be at converting it to an image. I have researched a lot now, and this way above seem to be a common way of doing it. Am I missing something vital?

Edit: Here is one of the blobs I want to convert to an image, this is how it is in the database.

How do you get the bitmap into the database. Maybe it gets corrupted at that point. Can you post one of your strings here. –  Vlad Feb 28 '11 at 5:36

The data you posted, seems to be corrupted. Decoding it (using the base64 command line utility`) produces something that looks like a PNG file, but not really:

$ base64 -d input.txt > output.png
$ file output.png 
output.png: PNG image, 805314562 x 284378236, 0-bit grayscale,

OK. I will turn to the database provider then, and see if I can get a correctly encoded png. Thanks for the help, I didn't know there was a base64 command line utility. –  kakka47 Feb 28 '11 at 8:17
    
You were right Joachim. The data was manipulated in a way to suit an Ihpone application, so it was in a png-format, but with a "twist". I got a new version of the database where the blobs were pure blobs and the code I used above worked without alteration. –  kakka47 Feb 28 '11 at 12:14
