I am getting the following error when my application first runs...

Caused by: Exception [EclipseLink-7155] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 2.0.1.v20100213-r6600): org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.ValidationException Exception Description: The type [class Lap] for the attribute [lapId] on the entity class [class Novartis.OTM.Data.Db.Entities.DtsTmpClass] is not a valid type for a serialized mapping. The attribute type must implement the Serializable interface.

Here are the relevant entities.

What really odd is that I just shortened the table and column names so Oracle wouldn't barf over the 30 character limit. It was just working.

I'm baffled!

Have you cut an pasted directly from your source into your posting? Is Lap referenced anywhere else in your Entity class? The exception you are seeing is resulting from EclipseLink not recognizing the @ManyToOne metadata and defaulting the relationship to a serializable mapping. If there are no punctuation typos in your code then try reversing the order of the ManyToOne and JoinColumn annotation. If that resolves your issue then please file a bug.

This is going to sound crazy but all is fine after editing some text in the entity files, saving them, Clean and Build, Deploy and restart GF. Appears that Netbeans 6.9.1 and/or GF 3.0.1 was able to correctly process the annotations after this edit. Can you say buggy? –  Chris Mar 11 '11 at 23:04
