Hi this is my fisrt time to read or to write to a file I got errors in defining file to read from help me

I hate people who post their entire code and simply says something like "fix it for me!". Tell us where is the error (at least in what function), what is going wrong and, most important what have you tried! –  BlackBear Mar 12 '11 at 20:50
    
You are using fs and ft as if they were globals, but they are declared inside main() and are therefore local. Either move the FILE *fs, *ft declaration to the top or pass them as function arguments to lexan() and others. –  Emilio Silva Mar 12 '11 at 21:00

I can get the code to compile by adding this line at the top:

int tokenval = NONE;   /*  value of token attribute */  
int lineno = 1;
FILE *fs, *ft;         /* <--- ADDED */

and I removed it from main():

int main(void)
{
    /* FILE *fs, *ft ; <-- REMOVED */
    char ch ;

Sorry, that was a bit sarcastic. The point is that making it compile isn't necessarily the same as solving the problem. –  David Heffernan Mar 12 '11 at 23:17

why you think i need help from this site? I didnt study c all my life and i been graduated in 1994, this year i decided to continue my education all homeworks in c , I spent about 2 hours trying to solve this problem, just noting globel solves my problem, so please dont "hate me" - hurt me –  duaa Mar 13 '11 at 3:39
