I am developing an iPhone app, when I insert data to the database I got "Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Error while inserting data. 'database is locked''" Error. The code is :

where you are opening [ "database " sqlite3* ] and is there some other query you have used and it is still keeping this open? –  Ravin Apr 14 '11 at 4:35

In case (membersInfoDict) you are returning without releasing the database. You shall include a sqlite3_close there. –  Vincent Jun 17 '13 at 8:06

@Vincent should you close the db everytime you access it? Also, I use a method [self openDB] to open the DB. Does it matter that I separate the functionality or should I do every thing in the same place. It seems like it shouldn't matter. –  SonOfSeuss Mar 31 at 22:35
    
No it is not necessary to close the dbase each time. However it is 'good programming' to have the dbase open and/or locked for as short as possible. –  Vincent Apr 2 at 11:39

you need to finalize the compiled statements and then close the database before opening it again.

sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatement);
sqlite3_close(database);
