I have been playing with Core Plot and trying to create a dynamic date x-axis. From the date plot example I have managed to create a static date axis, but would like to create a two-minute window at any time and update the xRange values. I am not sure on how to pass dates as the xRange min and length values and display time on the x-axis.

I have looked at examples, but I haven't been able to utilize NSTimeInterval (if this is how to do it...).

Below is my attempt so far; can someone please advise me on how to achieve this?

the location for the xRange is where you want the plot to start, for example if you had 5 minutes(assuming 1 entry per second) of data loaded for the plot and you wanted to start at minute 3 your location would be 3*60. your length would always be 2*60 if you only want to show 2 minutes of data.

you probably want to change x.majorIntervalLength as well, that value controls how often a major tick is placed along the x axis. your major tick usually has a label associated with it, so you'd want to lower that value to something more appropriate for only 2 minutes of data

@andrew lattis Thanks i can now see the xaxis moving, but i cannot see the actual graph anymore (i can see a dot on the y-axis but not the line itself). i can however see the line graph if i give constant values for location, is count++ a wrong way to implement in xRange? –  Linus Apr 21 '11 at 0:11
    
could it be the value is outside of the y axis range? in the code in the original comment your setting the y axis range to 0-100, do your values all fit in that range? it sounds like they might be above/below the visible range –  andrew lattis Apr 21 '11 at 1:06
    
The values are definitely between 0 and 100 and i can see the graph on the yaxis line (at x=0) but it is not on the actual graph, also if i set the xrange plotwithLocation value to 0.0f i can see the graph (but as you would expect the x-axis does not move) –  Linus Apr 21 '11 at 1:42
    
ok, it makes more sense now that you added the image. have you nslogged your mydata object to see if its being properly added to? –  andrew lattis Apr 21 '11 at 15:54
    
@andrew Lattis mydata array is added with 1 object every second (from NSTimer call) but i am only storing y values (not the time). could this be the issue?also, i read some where that i need to copy xRange before modifying? (i tried that as well with no luck) –  Linus Apr 22 '11 at 0:56
