Can someone tell me how can i use something like a timer to start a video recording interval process for a period of time (eg: 5mins) then restarts to record another set of 5min video until the user intervene to stop the process.. I'm kinna new in android/java so can someone help me along with this question?

This will start and stop the recording every 5 minutes,

final ServiceRecording recording = ....
final AtomicBoolean started = new AtomicBoolean(false);
ScheduledExecutorService executor = Executors.newScheduledExecutor(1);
executor.scheduleAtFixedRate(new Runnable() {
    public void run() {
         //only stop if we have started
         if(started.get()) {
            recording.stop();                
         } else {
           started.set(true);
         }
         recording.start();
    }
}, 5, 5, TimeUnit.MINUTES);

@sbridges I still don't seems to understand how to implement the aboves codes into my set of codes above.. Sorry i'm kinna new in java/android.. Could you explain where and how should i implement the above codes into my set of code?? Thanks :) – zack Apr 27 '11 at 9:47

@Hakan Ozbay So you mean just copy the above codes and place it into the mediaRecorder.start(); and it will just work without any code modification? But "final ServiceRecording recording = ...." , how should i come about solving that? – zack May 2 '11 at 8:50

@Hakan Ozbay after what you recommended i replace the code mediaRecorder.start(); to the above mention code, it seems that its still have all sorts of error here and there like eg: "final ServiceRecording recording = mediaRecorder;", "Executors.newScheduledExecutor(1)" seems to be not working at all.. What should shoud be done to solve these errors?? – zack May 2 '11 at 15:40
