I have a little trouble with structures in MATLAB. I need to create my own little periodic table and I think I've done quit well so far. But my problem is when I try to add a second element it writes over the first one. How can I fix this? Please take a look at my code, I know its a bit long:D I'd appreciate if you see any other mistakes. Thanks for help

You need an array of structures to hold the different elements. Try something like the following:

element = struct
i = 1;

element(i).name = 'oxygen'
element(i).symbol = 'O'

i = i + 1
element(i).name = 'carbon'
element(i).symbol = 'C'

i can put them in a cell array but they are in 1x1 structure form. –  matlab padawan Apr 26 '11 at 21:53
