In VB.NET, how do I do the following?

  1. Execute a Stored Procedure
  2. Read through the DataTable returned

If you are using 2008, it is possible to return a table. –  Mr. Manager May 13 '11 at 12:36

@Doug - OP doesn't need 2008 for what he is asking. The results of a stored procedure can be captured by the client application as a dataset (I don't have a good enough .net background but in Delphi it can). –  Lieven Keersmaekers May 13 '11 at 12:43

At the top of your .vb file:

Now that the basics are out of the way,

I highly recommend abstracting the actual SqlCommand Execution out into a function.

Here is a generic function that I use, in some form, on various projects:

My Stored Procedure Requires 2 Parameters and I needed my function to return a datatable here is 100% working code

Please make sure that your procedure return some rows
