I just want to know if there is already one provided by the standard. I know it's easy to make one yourself

but I think I forgot something in there or got the order wrong, so it'd be nice to have a prepared one, if one exists.

You probably intended to apply remove_cv to noref_T, not to T as in your code above. –  AndreyT Jun 5 '11 at 22:29

std::decay, I believe, performs this functionality.

That's interesting to know, good question. Here is the MSDN description of std::decay(). By the way, you can chain all your typedefs into one line to be less verbose if you really need to build your own trait. –  Kerrek SB Jun 5 '11 at 22:43
@Xeo: Pretty sure that it's the function of decay to replicate template argument deduction, or something like that. array -> pointer is the only thing I know of in the Standard termed decay apart from this though, so the confusion is easily made. –  Puppy Jun 5 '11 at 22:43
Skimmed through the C++0x FDIS doc and found this quote under [meta.trans.other] on decay: "This behavior is similar to the lvalue-to-rvalue, array-to-pointer, and function-to-pointer conversions applied when an lvalue expression is used as an rvalue, but also strips cv-qualifiers from class types in order to more closely model by-value argument passing." –  Xeo Jun 5 '11 at 22:47
