I am pretty new to working with JNI on Android, and I've been writing an app that requires the implementation of JNI_OnLoad.. I've perused the internet for help, and it seems like a lot of different documents conflict in how this function should be implemented. Nevertheless, I went with a method that seemed to work on my emulator but not on my device.

Is there something specific about native code that makes it act differently on an emulator than on an actual device? Or do I need to do more in JNI_OnLoad?

There's nothing you should need to do to run on a device that isn't already done on the emulator.

I notice from your log that your device is an x86 type device. The emulator is an ARM processor... are you trying to run ARM code or x86 code on your device?

Yes, I've been pushing ARM code onto an x86 device, but everything besides JNI has been working smoothly. Is this the dumb mistake that's been haunting me all this time? Other apps that I've been creating (which don't use JNI) have been able to run on the emulator and on the device...JNI has been the one sour aspect of my experiences. – digitalmouse12 Jul 1 '11 at 18:43
    
That seems to be the error for me. Android's NDK toolchain x86 support is only experimental, and using it results in errors such as the one I have. I guess I'll look into the NDK provided by the people over at the Android-x86 project. Thanks, mah, for pointing that out. – digitalmouse12 Jul 6 '11 at 16:24
    
The reason other APKs which don't use JNI have worked is they're neither ARM nor x86 binaries... they're "dalvik" (the Android Java Virtual Machine) binaries, and just like a regular JVM, its binaries are agnostic to the CPU. – mah Jul 6 '11 at 19:40
