I am writing an XImage to a file "bitmap0.bmp" using the following code but when i open the newly created file with imageViewer in fedora it gives "Premature end of file" error and does not display anything. could anyone please point out the problem in the following code?

Why are you pImage->width*3? Also are you sure that your structures are not getting padded (maybe you need __attribute__((packed(1)))? –  user786653 Aug 2 '11 at 13:16

Thank you user786653. I checked my structures. they were getting padded. I added

#pragma pack (1)

in structures and now it works fine. :)
