I have a problem when trying to monitorize the system memory trying to guess if a Bitmap fits in memory before loading it. Here's my code:

It seems to work. A similar output if I use a HTC wildfire. But when trying with a Asus eee pad transformer (Android 3.1) thats the output:

Why is that happening?

Before Android 3.0, the bitmaps were stored in native heap, that is why you see Debug.getNativeHeapAllocatedSize(); is raising.

From 3.0, they are stored in java heap.

Watch this from the 10 minute mark.

Probably you will need to use something like this to get the memory usage, I cannot test as the 3.0 emulator is way too slow.
