I'm working on a more-or-less vanilla WPF application. I added a Windows Setup project to my solution and added the project output from my WPF application.

After running the installer though, I can't run the software (although it runs fine in Visual Studio 2010.) There's just a brief waiting period, then the app exits quietly. The following error appears in the Windows Event Log. I'm fairly new to WPF development... any idea what I'm missing here?

You'll need to handle your App class's DispatcherUnhandledException event and write out the Message and StackTrace properties of not only the exception passed to the eventhandler, but also the one in its InnerException property (follow the nested exceptions until InnerException is null. Write to a log file so you can examine after the app closes. Usually there will only be one inner exception that points out exactly why the XAML could not be parsed. –  Joel B Fant Aug 7 '11 at 20:26
    
Joel, that fixed me up exactly! Just needed somewhere to inject diagnostic code and that event was it. Turns out my installer was missing a file that the app expected to be there. If you put in your comment as an answer I'll accept it! –  Barry Fandango Aug 8 '11 at 2:04
