I really want to write a good API interface, but i failed to find a good example :( Can anybody give me an example or book or where i can learn how to do it? My header file looks like this:

As that's C++ , IMHO it looks pretty ok already.

The problem your going to come up against is the (Sometimes very religious) pattern wars.

Book wise I can strongly recommend "Patterns of Enterprise Architecture" by "Martin Fowler"

However, you do need to look at this very objectively, what is your API for? who will use it? what will it contain?

As an example, I recently put something together, where I was going to add all sorts of method calls, then after a bit of an AH-HA moment, and a think about who was going to be using this, I got rid of 99% of the method calls, and made everything available as properties fro the 3rd party user to read.

Design of a good interface is about much more than just reading a book that tells you how to do it, or copying someone else's idea, it's all about giving everything that's needed to provide full functionality, but keeping it as simple and understandable as possible.

Your off to a very good start with naming your constants, that's definitely a plus.

If it helps an excersise I often do, is to imagine the product is finished and start writting the documentation, based on what the final user wants to see, very often you'll start to build up a model in your mind when you do this. I then start to draw that model out on a whiteboard, and from there start refining it.

Brain storming is also another great thing. Get a few coder friends together, toss some ideas around, and draw stuff on a whiteboard....

You'll find a whiteboard a very indispensable tool for working things like this out.

Thank you! As a fresh programmer, how to gain experience and how to think in the right point of view is quite a challenge, even i do finish a task but i don't know how to judge whether i do it well.I now try to find a good example or follow some book to judge.
