I didn't know much about Java encrypt/decrypt, as my requirement is easy, encrypt the one line of text to Hex string(so it could be put in browser's URL), i copy the below code from Internet, it works, but only on Windows(XP/7), on Mac the decrypted string is totally a mess, Could you please help me figure out where is wrong?

Don't copy code from "the internet" as there is a lot of crap out there, as you are finding out the hard way. This code has at least 2 significant bugs.

  1. Incorrectly assumes that if you provide SecureRandom with a seed, that seed is the only data used to seed the SecureRandom instance.
  2. Uses the default charset in the String.getBytes() method. Almost always you should explicitly specify the UTF-8 charset for crypto use.

In your case #1 is probably the problem, #2 is probably not hurting you.

The correct solution is to use a proper password-based encryption (PBE) algorithm. Unfortunately, the Sun providers don't support any AES-based PBE algorithms. If you add the bouncycastle provider to your project then you can get AES-based PBE algorithms.
